Tishimingo State Park is a Stunning Place to Hike!
Every year, without fail, we make our way back to the “Mothership” to have our beloved Tiffin motorhome thoroughly serviced. We genuinely look forward to catching up with the friendly locals, savoring delicious meals at Sparks and the outstanding Food Truck Pistol’s Flaming Grill, and indulging in the rich flavors of wonderful coffee and freshly baked pastries in charming Belmont. So while our coach is at her spa appointment for the day we always set out to explore. Why we hadn’t hiked in Tishimingo last year is beyond me - boy we were missing out!
Tishimingo State Park is located about 45 miles north of Tupelo, Mississippi in the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains and less than a 30 minute drive from Red Bay along beautiful country roads. The park itself is vibrant and diverse with giant sandstone outcroppings, waterfalls, ponds, and plenty of exploration with a variety of activities from hiking to fishing to photography. Upon arrival we were greeted by several of the ‘locals’.
After their fill of belly-scratches and a lot of high-pitched atta-boys the locals let us set off over the swinging bridge to explore the area. I am NOT a fan of swinging bridges and this one creaked, swayed, and was a tad sketchy to cross due to the ‘spongy’ feel of the old boards. Check out a few more images I photographed around Tishimingo State Park as well as our video showcasing our latest trip to Red Bay, Alabama!
